Feminism is about both women and men. If affirms women’s full humanity, but it is not a putdown of men’s humanity. Rather it is a critique of patriarchy as a system that distorts the humanity of both women and men.
How can [the Vatican] construe women seeking to minister the church, and those who support it, as such a threat to its institutional order that they should be cut off from the sacraments of the church?
Such a response to this movement and its supporters is nothing less than acts of spiritual violence, the equivalent of an effort to “kill” someone with whom one disagrees, to declare them spiritually dead and not in communion with God.
