Butterflies: An African Rhapsody 2005

Solo Exhibition at Art Association Pretoria

Willie van Rensburg is an artist who has all over the country won much acclaim and recognition for his work, both in solo and group exhibitions. His forthcoming exhibition, called Butterflies – an African Rhapsody, is opened in the Mackie Street Art Gallery of the Association of Arts Pretoria, by the well-known variety star and entertainer Michael de Pinna, on Sunday 20 November 2005 at 17:30 for 18:00. The exhibition runs till 15 December 2005.

Van Rensburg's works in oil, acrylic and mixed media immediately attract attention for their graceful designs and often Africa inspired design elements. This comes from his original training as a graphic designer. In his new work he depicts a beautiful variety of b species placed in free spaces and highlighted by elegant landscape and plant designs, thereby creating images of flight and freedom. As in the case of a musical rhapsody, his works reflect variety and charm. The Africa design settings bring an African spirit to his visual rhapsody.

Viewing Willie’s works evokes the exhilaration of a sprightly musical rhapsody.
