Eric Duplan's typographical landscapes are reminiscent of archaelogical sites. The multifaceted pieces of mix abstract architectual stylisation with fine detail and acquire references to symbolic and iconic objects. The bird's evye view of the landscape reveals references to fertility dolls, a crocodile, a figure, and yet evokes references to the ground-plan of a temple or ritual site. Not only does the artist reflect on the significace of a sense of place, but like in a Zen garden, all references are linked to time and the interconnectedness of all objects within the particular time-space. In the work on exhibition the artist's landscape configures as a text which transforms into a landscape.
