Gran Cavallo - World Art Day 2015 at Association of Art Pretoria Posted on 9 April 2015
Art is a form of self-expression. Many believe that there is an artist in all of us, no matter how many times we say that doodling is not an art. Artists in many countries will celebrate the fourth World Art Day on 15 April. This day marks the commemoration of the birthday of Leonardo da Vinci, considered to be one of the greatest artists and thinkers of all time. It is an initiative of the International Association of Art (IAA) to propagate and promote the visual arts. World Arts Day 2015 is for artists, artists at heart and those who appreciate art too. ![]() Craig Muller, Proto Monument Many art galleries and museums celebrate World Art Day with exhibitions, workshops and art viewing during World Art Day. For this year's festivities the Association of Arts Pretoria decided on Leonardo's iconic horse sculpture (the Gran Cavallo) as theme, although it was never executed by the master himself and accomplished only five centuries later from the original designs. Several prominent artists were invited to give their impressions of this famous sculpture by Leonardo.
The exhibition runs at the Association of Arts Pretoria from 15 April 2015 at 18:30 until Wednesday 6 May 2015.
