Outside Looking In 2006 | ABSA Gallery Johannesburg
With his exhibition, called "Outside looking in", Pieter Binsbergen,
with his forceful, rhythmic style and subtle use of colors, re-interprets landscape painting
traditions. His works, whilst capturing the harshness, faraway horizons and endless skies of
the African landscape, convey much more.
On the other side, he comments on the conventional
culture of landscape painting with understanding and sympathy, and on the other side, he brings
his own and innovative exploit of those celestial and subterraneous elements and forces of nature
which one can sense without being able to see them with the conscious eye. He puts eyes to the swirling
winds and breezes that look from the outside into the endless and distant plains.
Binsbergen’s work expanse the human spirit and is a visual liberation.
