Life without art is a frightful idea and a home or building without works of art is a very sad sight. All persons, young and old, have an inborn love for the arts. It is the perfect right of all people to have their own tastes and preferences.
Some prefer a beautiful picture or sculpture that delights the sights, others look for the illustration of a story, whilst others find pleasure in the forms and colours of an abstract work. And don't forget those who look for the conceptualisation of an idea.
This inborn love for the arts inspire people to visit art shops, galleries and museums, not necessarily to obtain or purchase an art work, but to feed their artistic tastes and needs or to meet fellow art-lovers and artists and to enhance their appreciation of the visual arts.
However, many of us do not know that there are several galleries and studios in Pretoria and where they are located. To guide art lovers, a group of gallery owners, curators and artists decided to organize an Art Meander or art-roundabout, on the first Sunday of the month from February to December.
This meander gives us the unique opportunity to plan our visits to galleries and studios in a leisurely manner, to explore and to enjoy the company of other lovers of the arts and to continually discover new art works.
