![]() Nadine HansenArt.co.za Watch List 2025About the artist ▼ About the Artist Nadine Hansen (b. 1986) is a visual artist based in Stilbaai in the Western Cape, her work incorporates multiple disciplines ranging from oil painting to sculpture and drawing. With a passion for exploring the intricacies of the human experience, Hansen’s work often explores themes of identity and connection with the natural world. She paints self-portraits that she calls “conceptual portraits”, creating a contemplative space between artist and viewer. Nadine is interested in human nature, the fragile line between the self and the other, and the relationship between humans and the environment. In 2023 Nadine obtained a BA degree from UNISA, majoring in Psychology and Art History. Apart from being a full-time artist Nadine is also co-owner of Stilbaai Galery since 2022. Since 2012 her work has been exhibited in a wide variety of South African galleries, including StateoftheART, Rust & Vrede, The gallery @ Grande Provence, Johann van Heerden’s art Gallery, ART. B, The golden goose artistry, The voice collective, The viewing room, Noordhoek Art Point and Stilbaai Galery. In 2018, Nadine was selected as a finalist in the inaugural SOTA award. She had her first solo exhibition in 2021 at Rust en Vrede gallery, titled “TERRA”. She returned in 2024 for her second solo exhibition also at Rust en Vrede gallery titled "The conference of the birds” . She is currently exhibiting in various galleries in South Africa, her work is featured in local and international private collections.
