Chaotic CBD11 April 2021 - 4 May 2021 Chaotic CBD is the latest exhibition by Zolile Phetshane and serves as a sneak preview to his upcoming solo exhibition, Come Get Your Gold. Come Get Your Gold will open in Spring 2022 in both Johannesburg and Cape Town.
The exhibition deals with the mass migration to metropoles in South Africa in search of a better life and financial freedom. Phetshane dissects the intricate eco-systems within these spaces where it is easy to lose your way and yourself in the pursuit for money. The vibrant array of characters from all over the continent and country found in the CBD comes to life in imagery in Phetshane's colour palette, while sending out a strong political message to governments criticising their faulty socio-economic systems. Chaotic CBD is a glimpse into this world which will be explored in full with both his solo exhibitions next year.
