The tenderness of ghosts

My practice engages with ideas of interspecies relationships within the domestic environment, exploring the intimacy and tenderness between companion species and making visible our entangled existence. I have chosen to work primarily in bronze sculpture for this exhibition, because I feel the material acts as an evocative contrast, to the ephemeral nature of life and the natural world. I have also made use of the mediums of drawing, and painting in order to deepen my practice as a multi- disciplinary artist, and to engage with the different sensibilities each material offers. - Nicola Bailey
