 Fleeting23 July 2022 Liekie Fouché is a Pretoria-based artist who spent the formative years of her life on a farm in the North-Western province. The landscapes of her childhood as well as the feelings of isolation they inspired have profoundly influenced her work to date.
After studying fine art at the University of Pretoria she was the runner-up in the Sasol New Signatures art competition (in 1992) and since then she had 15 solo-exhibitions and took part in more than a hundred group-exhibitions and her work can be seen in private collections all over the world. Currently she works from a tranquil and inspirational smallholding in Zwavelpoort to the East of Pretoria.
Liekie's work for this exhibition consists of South-African landscapes, cloudscapes and dreamscapes that focus on connections between heaven and earth, between worlds seen and unseen. The theme centres around scenarios portraying fleeting moments that dwell on the boundaries between dream and reality, past and future as well as nature and imagination.
