Selected Works from the Spier Collection
7 February 2024 - 17 April 2024
Participating: Diane Victor
Contemporary artist Diane Victor has been at the forefront of the South African and international art scene for many years. Victor explores the dark side of South African society with subtlety and complexity. From corruption and the social inequalities that affect the country, to the condition of humans and more specifically women, she implicitly questions the vulnerability of life.
Her graphic works, almost exclusively in black and white, are woven through with references to the history of art and mythology. They reveal her extraordinary mastery of printmaking and drawing techniques and her constant exploration of new media, such as ash and candle soot.
