 Coven6 March 2025 Participating: Various Artists A group show curated by Werner Ungerer. What is an artist if not a channeler of sorts? This group show aims to explore this question. In selecting the works, Werner wanted to show objects that take the axe to the distracted attention of the viewer. The works are made by artists that the curator admires for their quiet intensity and unflinching integrity. All containing something spectral, totemic and feral. They communicate in a direct, vulnerable way. The concern is not with the viewer or with the zombie cameras following everywhere. The pieces contain a spiritual charge reminiscent of hands painting cave walls, grinding up pigments for warpaint and decoration. Hands stringing up beads, making vessels.
