Burgeoning Talent25 November 2023 Participating: Various artists BURGEONING TALENT
25 November to 14 December 2023
From 25 November 2023 the Tshwane University of Technology’s Department of Fine and Studio Arts together with the Jewellery Design and Manufacture Programme will showcase their students’ creations at the Association of Arts Pretoria. The first-mentioned is one of the few university-based visual arts departments in South Africa that offers comprehensive training in ceramics. The latter is currently housed within the Department of Design Studies.
The ceramics module is structured to challenge the traditional perception of ceramics as an inherently craft medium. Lecturers and students push the boundaries of classical ceramics practice by infusing contemporary styles and subjective conceptual narrative into the vessels and sculptural forms they create.
The primary objective of the Jewellery Design & Manufacture Programme is to provide students with a versatile skill set, enabling them to embark on various career paths within the thriving jewellery industry. Here they hone their skills and refine their talents.
This exhibition is a showcase of the students’ 2023 studio practice. Besides celebrating the students’ achievements, the ultimate aim is to expose students to a professional exhibition environment where their artworks can be viewed and appreciated widely.
