In the life of constant change, artists have always tried to do the impossible: suspend time. With pigmented brush and canvas, they bestow longevity to the captured moment. It could be either daybreak's passing light, a passing glance of the face, or the last bud of a wilted bloom.
Painters harness their mediums to suspend a temporary occurrence in pictorial time. Time is both a theme and a medium; it is braided in the weave of every gesture. The paintings are mute witnesses to what is lost in time.
The beauty of these painted moments, which are typically found in the ordinary, is captured in this exhibition.
