MICHAEL HEYNS - SAAMLOOP MET VIS

In 1967, the Association of Arts in Pretoria arranged the first "New Signatures/Nuwe Handtekeninge" exhibition in the Old Netherlands Bank Building on Church Square. Mr Justice JF Marais acted as Chairperson for the Association from October 1959.

In the category of Painting, the following artist had been awarded:
Michael Heyns for his painting: "Seetoneel". It had been described by P.A.K of the Pretoria News as "bold in colour and intricate in design" (12 July 1967).

Michael Heyns said the following:
"Groot was my verbasing on te hoor: daars `n foto van jou in die katalogus van NEW SIGNATURES 2014. Wat `n heerlike verassing om die katalogus onder oë te kry en die onthou wat dit meebring! Deel van die prys was dat ek gratis by die SA Kunsvereniging kon uitstal en ek hét toe in 1968!

Seetoneel was die skildery se titel en SAAMLOOP MET VIS is die saambring van hierdie groep werke".
