Chicken canvasses auctioned by Chicken Challenge for a worthy cause

The Chicken Challenge, an annual fundraising initiative in aid of the Greater Rape Intervention Project ("GRIP"). The exhibition sees 180 chickens on display and an additional eight commissioned by the main sponsor of the initiative, Sappi Southern Africa.

The intiative sees artists create "chicken canvasses" from recycled materials which are then auctioned online. The Chicken Challenge exhibition takes place at the White River Gallery from 16 June - 11 July 2016. All proceeds of the auction will be donated to GRIP. Funds raised in 2016 will be used for the improvement of hospital and court care rooms in the Nelspruit area.

The project was started by Karin Daymond; well-known artist; and Reinette Fourie; puppeteer and local community craft project initiator; and businesswoman Marlize Meyer; to network with artists to raise funds for a needy and worthwhile causes.

The public are invited to bid online on until 11 July 2016 at 23:55.
