Launched in 2015, art10K Projects will be hosting its third
event back in Cape Town on the evening of Thursday 12
January 2017, at the prestigious law firm, Bowmans.
art10K is a welcoming arts platform which hosts pop-up
events to assist local emerging contemporary artists to gain
market exposure and increased revenue.
The events are designed to be both accessible to the buying
public and informal, where the buyers can view and bid on the
works, and freely interact with the artists in an informal, fun
The art10K platform offers original artworks via a
transparent open auction system. Each curated piece has a
base (reserve) value determined by the artist and the
maximum price is currently capped at R10,000 - so as to
encourage sales and stick to the affordability limit.
In addition, select prints by the artists are available for under
R1500, so as to encourage first time buyers, as well a few
select crafts and books.
art10K with a purpose
Besides the exposure and immediate revenue for
artists, art10K has the long-term goal of creating a sustainable
fund where profits are invested in arts education and
job/apprenticeship opportunities in the arts for talented,
The third edition of art10K will take place on Thursday 12
January 2017 at Bowmans, 22 Bree Street, Cape
Town from 5.30pm. Bidding on the auction pieces will close at
8.30pm and all purchases are finalised on the night. This is a
cashless event. Credit cards only.
R50 entrance fee covers a portion of staff and overhead costs.
First 30 paying guests receive a free Hope Gin cocktail or
glass of Steenberg wine or bubbly, both available for purchase
on the night.
art10K is funded and was founded by Grant Rock, co-founder
and executive director of HAVAIC Holdings, a boutique
advisory and investment firm focusing on investing and raising
capital for start-up businesses in Sub-Saharan Africa.
