Art10K at Bowmans in Cape Town
Posted on January 9, 2017.

Launched in 2015, art10K Projects will be hosting its third event back in Cape Town on the evening of Thursday 12 January 2017, at the prestigious law firm, Bowmans.

art10K is a welcoming arts platform which hosts pop-up events to assist local emerging contemporary artists to gain market exposure and increased revenue.

The events are designed to be both accessible to the buying public and informal, where the buyers can view and bid on the works, and freely interact with the artists in an informal, fun setting.

The art10K platform offers original artworks via a transparent open auction system. Each curated piece has a base (reserve) value determined by the artist and the maximum price is currently capped at R10,000 - so as to encourage sales and stick to the affordability limit.

In addition, select prints by the artists are available for under R1500, so as to encourage first time buyers, as well a few select crafts and books.

art10K with a purpose

Besides the exposure and immediate revenue for artists, art10K has the long-term goal of creating a sustainable fund where profits are invested in arts education and job/apprenticeship opportunities in the arts for talented, disadvantaged youth.

The third edition of art10K will take place on Thursday 12 January 2017 at Bowmans, 22 Bree Street, Cape Town from 5.30pm. Bidding on the auction pieces will close at 8.30pm and all purchases are finalised on the night. This is a cashless event. Credit cards only.

R50 entrance fee covers a portion of staff and overhead costs. First 30 paying guests receive a free Hope Gin cocktail or glass of Steenberg wine or bubbly, both available for purchase on the night.

art10K is funded and was founded by Grant Rock, co-founder and executive director of HAVAIC Holdings, a boutique advisory and investment firm focusing on investing and raising capital for start-up businesses in Sub-Saharan Africa.
