Students are due to complete the 2020 academic year printmaking courses in March 2021.
On display is a selection of student prints, produced in the Printmaking division at Tshwane University of Technology, Department of Fine and Studio Arts, Faculty of Arts and Design. The prints have predominantly been done by second year students. A small selection of third year students’ works is also included. The different printmaking techniques on show are Linocuts, Drypoint on Plexiglass, Monoprints and Collagraphs.
The collective disruption of life in general and of the 2020 academic year in particular, by the Covid pandemic, caused our students to face huge challenges, both personally and academically. Amidst and despite physical and psychological hardship and loss of valuable time, when students were allowed back to complete their practical courses, they resumed their studies with fortitude and determination.
This exhibition displays some of the fruits of their labours. The works are very reasonably priced. Please support our students.
Sadly, the printmaking team recently lost a beloved colleague, Cathy Batchellier. She would’ve delighted in the idea of this show. RIP Cathy, we dedicate this exhibition to you.
