Shadows of My Freedom

18 January 2020

"The way you wear my clothes can be a conversation one has with the world before they even say anything verbally. Growing up in the township I’ve always admired people with personal style, and in that kind of environment style mavericks were perceived as arrogant rather than confident. They were great improvisers, resourceful and creative in expressing their aspirations through fashion.

How do i celebrate individuality? I have created these characters to represent shadows of my freedom. Confidence to be whoever you want to be through your choice of style, displays individuality. There’s more to people than what meets the eye, and for most people, how they choose to represent themselves can serve as an escape from their undesired reality.

These characters also serve as shadows of our everyday lives. We are either them, or we know them."
