SÕLUS - HYDRO

3 October 2019

Joanne Reen’s work reflects the human experience within the landscape.

“I am in the landscape and the landscape is in me.”

The artist’s recent body of work incorporates water and its reflective qualities. Influenced by a trip to Giverny, France, her stylistic approach of reductive imagery includes expressive, gestural brushwork and the symbolic use of blues and greens. Her study of Claude Monet’s garden and the works of Cy Twombly can clearly be seen in a more intuitive process, allowing the artwork to dictate her path.

“These water studies have facilitated a reconnection with nature and a rebirth or a sense of coming home to my essential self.” – Joanne Reen
