Two Solo Exhibitions

Colijn Strydom | Crepuscular
Hannalie Taute | Familie-Kielie
99 Loop is delighted to introduce two new exhibitions: ‘Crepuscular’ by Colijn Strydom and ‘Familie-Kielie’ by Hannalie Taute. The opening will take place on Wednesday the 28th of August from 17:30, and the shows will run until the 21st of September.
‘Crepuscular’ is Cape Town-based artist Colijn Strydom’s second solo show at 99 Loop. The show is the artist’s attempt to think through the figure of David Beresford Pratt, who unsuccessfully attempted to kill Prime Minister H.F. Verwoerd in 1960. On display will be Strydom's paintings which utilize humour, irony and bold touches of colour as tools to interrogate notions of masculinity, violence and the artist’s own Afrikaner identity.
Local artist Hannalie Taute will also be having her second solo exhibition at the gallery. Focusing on the concept of family dysfunction and the fantastical elements that accompany it, ‘Familie-Kielie’ will feature dark and irreverent pieces. On display will be the artist’s signature embroidered rubber works in addition to her sketchbook pages which will be exhibited for the very first time.
