Two Solo Exhibitions

25 July 2019

Oda Tungodden | Wall-flowers
‘Wall-flowers’ is Norweigan artist Oda Tungodden’s first solo exhibition at 99 Loop. The artist’s work contemplates moments, those that have passed and those yet to begin. Based off of photographs of childhood experiences, Tungodden’s figurative paintings feature vivid colour palettes and question the stories that exist beyond the depicted scenes. The show will feature images that occupy a space somewhere between reality, perception and imagination.

Marolize Southwood | In All Seriousness

With our focus on emerging talent this upcoming month, ‘In All Seriousness’ is similarly Marolize Southwood’s first solo exhibition with the gallery. On display will be the artist’s most recent series of still life paintings that explore notions of our own constructed reality. Southwood examines this by painting objects in the most unlikely of spaces, creating slightly absurd artworks in an Impasto technique. Ultimately, the works in the show are unserious paintings about serious matters, hidden behind bright colours and painterly depictions.
