Feu Sacre (Sacred Fire) by Guy Ferrer
A compulsively productive artist, Guy Ferrer has since the 1980's exhibited his work in many exhibitions, art fairs and art galleries in Europe, North America and China. His work, dedicated mainly to bronze sculpture and painting in various mediums, explores the rites of passage that form the ritualistic bedrock of the world's ancient faiths and modern religions.
Ferrer's upcoming exhibition at Everard Read, FEU SACRÉ (SACRED FIRE) promises to elucidate the artist's personal understanding of the meaning of peace and our relationship with the natural world.
'n Goeie Dag vir 'n Slag A Bloodriver/Ncome Monument by Johan Stegmann
Johan Stegmann's exhibition explores the concept of duality - especially in history, morality, and the apparent schism between logic and intuition. Through an interrogation of the Eurocentric nature of contemporary South Africa (and global) culture - through his drawings, Stegmann is able to reimagine the way in which we perceive authority.
Maquettes for the Freedom Statue by Anton Momberg
Anton Momberg has emerged as arguably South Africa's finest realist in sculpture, focusing mainly on the female nude. His finely crafted work cast in marble dust and resin has an unearthly, unsettling quality that somehow makes a monolith of the contemporary female form, as distinct from the 'Venus' of antiquity.
Participating: Guy Ferrer, Johan Stegmann and Anton Momberg
