The Safest Place is the Knife`s Edge
The Standard Bank Gallery in Johannesburg presents The Safest Place is the Knife's Edge: Christo Coetzee (1929 - 2000), the first retrospective exhibition in 35 years of works by this South African artist, who was not only the leading exponent of abstract expressionism in South Africa and in Europe in the 1950s and 1960s, but also of an international movement such as Assemblage Art in America in the early 1960s.
The curators will give a walkabout of Christo's exhibition to open visitors to various ways of reading and enjoying his work on the following dates:
